Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to be a Marshalls Registered Installer?

This means we abide by Marshalls strict installation process and code of contact, and are regularly inspected on site by a Marshalls assessor. We have been a member for over 10 years and we have won awards.

Which areas do you cover?

We are happy to quote for work in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and North London. For larger commercial projects we are happy to quote on a national basis.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our hard landscaping is guaranteed for five years. Customer satisfaction is always our priority though, so hopefully we can come to a happy compromise.

Do you have insurance?

We have full and comprehensive Public Liability Insurance of £5 million which protects you as our customer and our workers on your property are fully covered with ample employers liability insurance of £10 million.

Will it cost more than the quotation?

You will receive a formal written quotation and unless there are changes made and agreed by you on site during the works, this is what you will pay. A quotation is not an estimate, you will not have to pay more.

What foundations do you provide for block paving driveways?

  • The area is fully excavated to a minimum of 230mm below the finished level, taking into account the Damp Proof Course.
  • A grab lorry with full operating licence and appropriate waste disposal license is used to dispose of waste material.
  • Sub base is levelled and compacted.
  • Type 1 Roadstone/MOT is laid, 130mm deep, (for environmental reasons we support the use of recycled aggregates). The Type 1 Roadstone is the thoroughly compacted using a plate compactor.
  • At this stage any necessary drainage is installed.
  • All outer blocks/kerbs are then laid on a lean mix concrete bed and haunched behind.
  • A 40mm compacted bed of sharp sand is then laid.
  • Inner blocks/kerbs are then laid over the compacted and levelled sand, taking into consideration falls for drainage and/or water soak away.
  • All angles and cuts are made using a professional block splitter.
  • After the blocks are installed the joints are swept in with kiln dried sand and compacted a final time.

Do you offer an aftercare service on your installations?

We are happy to arrange a maintenance schedule on any paved surface we install. We are as keen as you are to ensure your investment remains looking as prestine as the day we completed the work for you. Most clients prefer to arrange an annual visit and clean.
